The Truth About “Full-Service” Agencies

I recently came across a blog from a small creative agency that claimed, “full-service agencies are watered down and overrated.”

When an agency takes that kind of stance, it is not a bold insight. It is small-minded thinking. It often comes from leaders who never figured out how to build something larger than themselves. Owners who are too egotistical to hire people smarter than they are or who know more than they do. Rather than investing the time, money, and talent required to scale properly, they take an offensive posture, hoping to convince clients that their own limitations somehow make them more authentic.

The truth is simple. They cannot do it, so they attack those who can.

At InnoVision Marketing Group, we have proven that a true full-service agency can not only exist, it can thrive. We have built a model where every discipline lives under one roof and is delivered at the highest level of quality, creativity, and precision. As CEO, my goal has always been to surround myself with people who are smarter than me and know more than I do, then get them all pulling in the same direction. That direction is a client-first mentality.

Our structure was not born out of convenience. It was built out of obsession. Obsession with detail, performance, and results that come from the disciplined application of the Fundamentals of Success© and genuine integration, not fragmentation.

Smaller agencies like to claim that being a “jack of all trades” leads to mediocrity. In reality, that mindset reflects an unwillingness to make the necessary investments. The kind that require building true in-house teams, aligning creative and strategy, and creating a culture where collaboration is second nature. It is expensive. It is complex. It is hard work. That is exactly why most do not do it.

We do.

And here is what small agencies rarely tell you. When brands spread their marketing across multiple vendors, the result is confusion, competing egos, and inconsistent messaging. It costs more, takes longer, and dilutes results. The irony is that the same agencies that claim to care deeply about strategy are often the ones creating the very chaos that destroys it.

Before buying into that narrative, take a closer look at what a true full-service model actually looks like. One built with integrity, skill, and a relentless commitment to client success.

At InnoVision, we do not pretend to do it all. We actually do it all, with passion and care.

There’s an old expression in sports that you’re only as strong as your weakest player. I’ve heard some version of it for most of my life, and the longer I’ve spent building teams, the more I’ve come to believe there’s a lot of truth behind it.

When we think about a weak performer, we tend to focus on that person’s individual production. Are they doing enough? Is their work good enough? Are they meeting expectations? But I’ve learned that those questions don’t capture the real cost because performance rarely exists in isolation. The way one person operates affects the people around them.
